Mission of Mary Cooperative is a catalyst and partner for sustainable urban development in Dayton, Ohio.
Our organization was born out of a community of Lay Marianists living and serving in the Twin Towers neighborhood. We were confronted with two pressing issues facing the neighborhood—abandoned land and limited access to fresh, local produce. Our solution? Transform uncultivated green spaces into vegetable gardens and share the harvest with our neighbors. In 2009 we planted a single garden. Today we manage a network of 6 urban farming plots and grow over 100 different varieties of fruits and vegetables.
Here’s how we’re making an impact
Urban Agriculture
Utilizing unused green spaces across East Dayton, we grow more than 50 varieties of fruits and vegetables.
Renewable Energy
Sustainability is at the core of what we do. That’s why we’ve chosen to power our campus with solar and geothermal energy.
Community Programs
We encourage healthy lifestyles for all through community gardens, educational programs, and cooking workshops.
Making fresh produce accessible to all
We believe that everybody should be able to enjoy nutritious, local veggies. That’s why we’ve designed a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) program that connects Dayton families of all income levels with a variety of delicious produce grown right here in Twin Towers.
